Types of Membership
Full Member
Eritreans living in Manitoba; eligible to vote and serve in leadership.
Associate Member
Friends of ECW who embrace its mission; may vote but cannot serve on the executive board.
Honorary Member
Granted to individuals who have made outstanding contributions; no voting rights.
Membership Requirements
- Eritrean identity or strong Eritrean cultural ties (for full membership)
- 18 years of age or older
- Proof of residency in Manitoba
- Commitment to ECW's mission, bylaws, and good conduct
Membership Fees
- $120 per family per year
- $60 each additional family member (optional, for individual voting/privileges)
- $60 seniors (discounted rate)
- One-time registration fee: $10
Rights & Privileges
- Voting rights at the AGM (associate members cannot sit on the executive board)
- Eligibility to be elected (with the above exception)
- Discounts on tickets and access to ECW programs
- Participation in sponsorship program for family reunification
- Membership services begin six months after approval
Member Obligations
- Attend meetings and community events
- Volunteer at least one day per month (or provide monetary/in-kind contribution)
- Pay membership fees on time
- Uphold ECW's mission and values
How to Join
- 1Complete the online membership form
- 2Meet with a board representative
- 3Provide two pieces of ID (one Canadian, one Eritrean if available)
- 4Pay the registration fee and annual dues
- 5Await board approval
Renewal & Good Standing
- Renew by your signup date each year.
- If dues are not paid for two consecutive years, membership will be suspended. To rejoin after two years, the one-time registration fee must be paid again.
